Start new each morning with a clean slate. Look at what you are working on. What was a high priority yesterday may not be as high of a priority today, and it may even need to be placed on the back burner. For example, your week may be completely scheduled when your car begins making a noise indicating it may need a major repair if not looked at immediately. You may have to say no to something, reschedule something, or disappoint someone in order to free up the time to have your car fixed. Prioritization management must be somewhat flexible since unexpected events can adjust your priorities.
Fresh Start for Others
Also, give the people in your life a clean slate each morning as well. They may have upset you the day before, but why should you bring that baggage into a new day? The sun went down in the west and rose again in the east. Isn’t that reason enough to start fresh?
Get Over It
Maybe someone cut you off in traffic on the way to work, and now you are upset. Why should you remain upset all day about someone’s mistake? Yes, it was a mistake; they didn’t do it on purpose. Give them a pass and move on. Life is too short to carry all of this baggage. As I always say, “Life is short; eat dessert first because you don’t know when you are going to die.”
You have a choice, and the choice is yours.
